Projects

All my projects, that are more or less active, 2020-01-03T00:00:00+01:00

This is a list of my more or less active projects

SpaceCadetDeck

So there I was, staring at my expensive Stream Deck that refused to cooperate — buttons not responding, layouts glitching, and software updates that felt like Russian roulette. I thought, "How hard can it be?" Spoiler: it was a rabbit hole, but a fun one. Enter SpaceCadetDeck, my DIY replacement that actually works the way I want.

DeckServer

The DeckServer is a Python WebSocket server running on my desktop that manages all my button layouts, lets me switch between them instantly, launch apps, or even activate specific windows — and yes, it handles both my ancient X11 setup and my fancy Wayland sessions without drama.

CadetKeys

Then there's CadetKeys, the Android app that turns my phone into that control deck, so I can finally press buttons that actually do something. No more yelling at my Stream Deck, just smooth, customizable control that I built myself (and yes, the SSL certificates practically set themselves up).

Klampfinator

An arduino-driven campfire guitar, with no strings attached, 2020-01-03T16:00:00+01:00

When i tried to learn the guitar, I always had the problem of too many fingers for too few strings. So I planned to get rid of them (strings, not fingers!). The result is a perfectly playable instrument, that is technically an arpeggiator, that sounds like a guitar.

You can choose from up to 11 strumming or picking patterns per song with your right hand, and up to 9 chords per song with your left hand, each one with only a single finger.

dr.emacs

My dream of my personal Emacs environment, 2021-07-05T11:00:00+02:00

I don't like Emacs, I love it. And so I live most of the time inside this great lisp environment, and read mail or RSS feeds, view PDFs, do my personal accounting or write letters. There is an package for everything. And all of these packages come with their own configurations, keybindings and aesthetics.

And if that wouldn't be enough for my brain, all of it is pretty archaic. Emacs is famous (or should I say notorious) for its strange key combinations and user interfaces.

And I don't like that to get in my way.

I want to change that, but instead of doing some kind of public package, that tries to solve this problem for everyone, I chose another way. I am building my own personal configuration for Emacs, that I try to explain thorougly (with literate configuration) to myself, and to everyone who is interested in it.

I don't want you to use it as it is, but I try to tell you the reasons and concepts of all the tweaks my Emacs got over time. And I hope you understand my ideas and intentions enough to build your own config from that.

As I know, people will copy parts of it anyways, I tried to separate it into 4 different projects, all publicly available on codeberg.org, to make it as easy as possible to get just the thing you need, with the explanation right beside it.

Those 4 projects are
